Milan played
a superb match outclassing in class, speed and tactics
a good Sampdoria coached by Milan ex Walter Novellino.
After a good start by Sampdoria Milan started to move
forward gaining a number of corners. Rui Costa had a number
of shots saved in extremis by ex-Antonioli.
A
good move on the right saw Tomasson give Milan the lead
on 38 minutes from a good cross. Sampdoria reacted but
Milan quickly regained control of the preceedings.
The
second half was again in Milan's complete comtrol. The
team worked well with ever component helping each other
out. Then came Milan's splendid second goal. A masterpiece.
Three triangular first time exchanges saw the ball go
from Serginho and end up with a Shevchenko shot which
ended in the corner of the net. A super goal which left
Sampdoria hapless. This goal killed the game off and Milan
were pleased to pass the ball around making Sampdoria
run and work hard to get to it. In the final seconds Kaka
found Shecchenko who headed in Milan's third.
A
solid Milan beat contenders Lazio to move back to the
top position of the serie A. The all important goal came
from Andrea Pirlo who was at hand to tap in a melee in
front of goal which saw shots from Inzghi and Shevchenko
being parried in one form or another by Lazio's defense.
Ancelotti
fielded the now customary line-up with Kaka in between
midfield and attack. Pancaro and Cafu were full backs
with Nesta and Maldini in the central roles. In midfield
Seedorf, Gattuso and Pirlo filtered well.
lazio
came out of the dressing room the strongest and also managed
to take the lead, but the linesman flagged a close call
offside. Milan then took control of the proceedings and
went ahead from Pirlo after Inzaghi's shot was parried
by Mihajlovic with his hand. Pirlo tapped the ball home
to avoid controversy since Mihajlovic should have also
been sent off.
Milan
controlled the match although Lazio came out very strong
for about 15 minutes in the second half. Milan could have
finished off the match late but Shevchenko's shot hit
the post with Peruzzi beaten. Kaka's rebound shot was
cleared off the line by Oddo.
Milan played
a spectacular match dominating Inter till the final fifteen
minutes when at 3-0 up they let down their guard to concede
a goal. As Ancelotti had promised Milan will soon be at
their top form and it is showing. Ball possession was
agin the name of the game and Man of the Match Kaka played
a superb game even scoring the second all important killer
goal at the start of the second half.
Milan
first goal came from a Pirlo free kick which saw Inzaghi
head in outplaying Toldo. Milan continued to dominate
and had numerous chances to close up the match. Some fell
to Shevchenko and some to Inzaghi and another couple to
Kaka but all players failed to score.
Second
half started with a superb goal. Shevchenko left from
the right and after exchanging the ball wuth Gattuso,
the latter crossed onto the unmarked Kaka who headed easily
home from close range. A super play from Milan.
Inter
decided it was all too much and confusion reigned for
some time with Cuper trying frantically to settle his
team down. Milan had numerous chances but all were missed
until the 77th minute when Shevchenko pounced on another
exchange, this time with Cafu, to pass the ball between
Toldo'slegs for the 3-0. It was here that Milan stopped
completely and apart from Martins goal gave Inter opportunities
to score. Milan failed to control possession of the ball
but did not suffer that much Inter's pressure. Another
derby for Milan.
