In
an attempt to finalise a deal for a "fantasista"
Milan have signed U21 Italian Andrea Pirlo from Inter.
The price was set around 35 billion Italian lire. This
means that Milan have given up on Rui Costa.

Comandini heading for Atalanta
Gianni
Comandini will be playing for Atalanta next season. The
hero of the derby is one of the players that Milan will
have to sell to get the money needed to get Inzaghi to
Milan. The sum of 30 billion Italian lire is being mentioned
as the price.
On
the other fronts Rui Costa is still undecided about his
future. The player wants Milan but Parma and Fiorentina
have already agreed a transfer deal which would see Toldo
and Rui Costa head to Parma in exchange for 130 billion
Italian lire. However, both players want other destinations.
27/6/2001
Dida suspended for one year
Dida
has been suspended for one year following the falsepassport
scandal which has rocked Italian and European football.
Milan have appealed the sentence.

Inzaghi passes medical
Inzaghi
has passed all his medical tests at Milan, however, Galliani
will not announce his transfer. Milan still have to find
the money to pay for the expensive forward. Movements
which will finance the transfer are Ba, who is off to
Marseille and Comandini, for whom Milan are asking around
30 billion lire. Pablo Garcia, who was on loan to Milan,
has been sent back to Uruguay. in the meantime, Galliani
has stated that if Rui Costa moves from Fiorentina, his
destination, would be Milan.

More
transfers
More
transfers are on the table, but now the primary target
is to sell. Milan have now 39 players on their books and
need to cut down on the number of players. Orlandini,
back from a loan period at Brescia has now been passed
on to Atalanta. Other players to move will be Boban, Sala,
Bierhoff, Ba, Guglielminpietro and probably Giunti.
On
the Inzaghi front it seems that Milan and Juventus have
reacjed agreement. With the player keen on signing for
Milan, Juventus will not hold on to the player. The official
announcement is rumoured for Tuesday. On the midfielders
front Milan are still hunting for Rui Costa or Riquelme,
after the latter broke down talks with Barcellona.

Fatih Terim presented at Milanello
Fatih
Terim was today presented to the press at Milanello. Present
were all the Milan management together with Cesare Maldini.
Terim said that he wanted to create a team that presses
all over the pitch and that can win games both at home
and at away matches. He said that his past experiences
in Italian football will serve him well at Milan.
In
the meantime Cesare Maldini signed a four year deal with
Milan as head of the team of scouts. This means that the
Maldini family will remain at the top positions at Milan.
Galliani
then spoke that Milan now have 41 players on their books
and this obviously means that Ariedo Braida's task is
now to sell players. He also stated that he has to meet
Juventus management for Inzaghi next Thursday but also
said that Milan will not budge from their offer of 60
billion Italian lire, whilst Juventus are asking for 80
billion.

A
slow and cumbersome match playeed without heart saw Milan
lose their last match of the season leaving Reggina a
ray of hope of salvation. When Kaladze put Milan ahead
the team and management did not even emit rejoice for
the lead. Such where the surreal surroundings at the Reggina
stadium today. Not much more about the game that one can
say apart from the facts that Reggina hit the posts twice
after Milan had taken the lead. Shevchenko saw his top
scorer lead crumble when Crespo scored again and therefore
motivation was seriously lacking.
Milan
finish the Serie A in sixth place, an honourable finish
when one considers all the injuries the team had. The
season will be remembered mostly for the good Champions
league run with away wins in Barcellona and La Coruna
and with the indelible and unforgettable 6-0 thrashing
of Inter at the San Siro.

is his last game for the club.

MILAN
A draw at the San Siro between Milan and Brescia,
with little excitement for the fans, particularly in the
first half. The match was played at low rhythm by both
sides, but the final result, thanks also to Atalantas
home defeat, was enough for Milan to confirm their qualification
for next seasons UEFA Cup.
In their last home match of the season, Milan again had
to put out a makeshift eleven due to the many missing
players. Four of the squad were out suspended (Paolo Maldini,
Giunti, Kaladze and Serginho), while another six were
injured (Costacurta, Albertini, Ambrosini, Redondo, Boban
e Garcia). After only half an hour of the first half goalkeeper
Sebastiano Rossi also had to leave the pitch due to a
back problem. Cesare Maldinis solution to the many
absences was to move Helveg into an unfamiliar central
midfield role alongside Gattuso. In defence, Sala and
Chamot started the game.
Making
his last ever appearance for the rossoneri at the San
Siro, Leonardo took the captains armband and lined
up behind a front pairing of Comandini and Shevchenko.
It
was Brescia who had the first attempt on goal after just
two minutes. Antonio Filippini, found by Bachini, dribbled
past the out coming Rossi, but from his low cross Hubner
missed the target.
Ten minutes later, Guly controlled a cross from Coco in
the area and his left foot shot brushed Srniceks
left hand post.
Just
after the half hour mark Baggio and Calori combined for
a free-kick from the edge of the area, saved without problem
by Abbiati, having just replaced Rossi in goal.
With four minutes remaining to the interval, Shevchenko
found himself the space to race into the area, immediately
release Comandini, who controlled well, turned his marker,
but shot over the crossbar.
In
the second half the game picked up pace a little. A free-kick
from Leonardo found Coco, who sent his header over the
bar, while four minutes in Brescia went close with efforts
from Hubner (blocked by Sala), Baggio and Diana. Baggio
then hit a great free-kick that Abbiati was able to push
away on the line.
After fifty six minutes Shevchenko found the net, knocking
in a rebound after a header from Sala hit the bar. However
referee Rosetti disallowed the goal for an offside against
Milans striker.
Milan
opened the scoring through Josè Mari, having just
come on. With a great right foot shot past Srnicek, his
goal on sixty eight minutes looked likely to be the only
goal of a subdued game.
However, just two minutes later Bachini equalised with
a good shot from the edge of the area.
The end of the game brought emotional moments for the
fans, perhaps more than had been seen in the ninety minutes
of football. Baggio went off to applause from all around
the ground and his place was taken by ex Milan favourite
Galli, to great appreciation from the fans.
As
the players left the pitch, the fans saluted Leonardo,
at the end of his last appearance at the San Siro wearing
the shirt of Milan.

Milan
are very busy programming their future side. Talks were
held between Seville and Milan for the transfer of Jose
Mari to Seville. In return Milan will get youngster Nicola
Olivera, a very promising player indeed and an option
on any player in Seville's youth camp. Milan will have
to pay half of Jose Mari's salary at Seville since the
newlt promoted club cannot afford to pay his current salary.
Another
important deal in the offing is the exchange of Pierini
with Sala. Milan need a good quality defender and Pierini
is the main target. Fiorentina want Sala and therefore
the deal is possible.
Milan
are also close to signing 21 year old Branko Boskovic
of Red Star Belgrade. The player was pointed out to Milan
by Dejan Savicevic, now manager of the Yugoslav national
team, but still with Milan in his heart. The player is
a playmaker, resembling Savicevic's style. Milan could
acquire the player and leave him for another year at Belgrade.
Daniele
Daino reappears
After
an absence of months Daniele Daino finally managed to
train with his team mates. The unfortunate promising youngster
had to be operated twice in his knee and has been painstakingly
trying to get back into football. Lately he was training
in an re-education centre in Holland. He thanked Milan's
management for their patience and collaboration stating
that he owes a lot to the club.
Inzaghi
decision postponed
The
meeting held yesterday to conclude the deal that would
see Inzaghi join Milan only concluded that both management
teams should meet again after the 18th June. Juventus
are still chasing a champions league spot and it seems
that their management thought it wise not to unstabilise
the squad at this delicate moment. The Italian press today
had mixed opinions. Some papers stated that the deal was
in fact concluded, others that both Milan and Juventus
are having second thoughts. One paper actually quoted
Inzaghi as saying that his future is certainly at Milan.
Helveg
to stay
Milan
and Inter have reached an agreement whereby Helveg will
remain at Milan for anther season. Helveg had been exchanged
for Domoraud last January with the Dane still on loan
at Milan. After the recent switch for a 4-4-2 formation
Helveg came into his own and Milan's management thought
it fit that the player stay on the rossoneri's side of
the city. Even Helveg himself wanted to stay with Milan
so in the end the decision was unamimous.

Inzaghi for Milan
Adriano
Galliani has confirmed that Filippo Inzaghi could soon
be a Milan player. He has admitted that negotiations are
at a good stage but remarked that if Inzaghi joins Milan
Thuram will probably go to Juventus. During Sunday's "Novantesimo
Minuto" RAI program today the broadcaster gave the
news that Inzaghi has joined Milan as a certainty, something
which this television station very rarely does unless
it is 100% sure.
02/6/2001
Galliani clears the air
Adriano
Galliani explained Milan's tranfer market in detail today
during a a workshop between Milan's management and their
sponsors. He first pointed out to the journalists to stop
writing that Abbiati will leave. It is definite, he said
that Abbiati will be Milan/s goalkeeper next year. there
is no way that the player will leave Milan. Galliani then
pointed out that Milan have spent the most money from
among all the Italian clubs luring to the San Siro Christian
Zenoni, Donati, Moreno and Contra. He then explained that
Rui Costa is now out of the question, even because it
would be a problem for both the Portuguese and Serginho
to co-exist. He then explained that Rossi's situation
will be finalised when the Campionato is over in order
not to create internal squad problems in such a delicate
time. He then went on to detail the playes coming back
from loan. Under - 21 starlet Corrent together with Saudati
and Aliyu will all come back to the rossoneri after their
loan period. Maccarone's position on the other hand has
to be sorted out with Empoli.Coloccini will also return
after a very good season at San Lorenzo. Milan also had
already struck a deal with Inter for Helveg but Milan
have now asked Inter to leave the player at the Rossoneri's
side of the city since the player has adapted himself
very well to the new 4-4-2 lineup. His final comments
were that as it is Milan have made a very positive transfer
market which could be over, but he then went on further
by stating that other important transfers are still possible,
especially in the attack and defense areas, clearly with
references to Inzaghi and Thuram.
Thuram
assault
Milan
have offered 60 billion Italian lire and Abbiati for the
services of Thuram of Parma. The player seems set to move
away from Parma this season and Milan have taken the opportunity
to make an offer for the player. Reports state that Tanzi,
Parma owner, is keen to take up Milan's offer. Thuram
would prefer Milan to Lazio mainly because of the Lazio
fan's racial descrimination problem.
Rossi
heading for Napoli
Veteran
goalkeeper Sebastiano Rossi could be heading for Napoli.
The player seems unable to form part of Fatih Terim's
plans for the coming season. Foreign goalkeepers such
as Rustu of Fenerbache and Eleftheropoulos of Olimpiakos
are being mentioned.
Leonardo's
last show
Next
weekend will be Leonardo's last outing at the San Siro.
The Brasilian, who delighted Milan's fans for the past
four years with his free kicks and delightful touches
is heading home to either Sao Paolo or Flamengo.
