Milan created numerous chances but failed to score in a strnage match where Ancelotti seemed more concentrated on next Tuesday's clash against Ajax. We saw players like Helveg and ba make their return to the fray and Milan sorely missed Maldini, Rui Costa and Shevchenko.

Milan put up a strong display of precision football to win the Milan derby. The team was well organised by Ancelotti into a 4-4-2 formation with Dida in goal, a back four comprising Simic on the right and Costacurata on the left and with Nesta and Maldini in the centre of defence. In midfield a mix of class and fighting spirit with Rui Costa and Serginho on the flanks and with Ambrosini and Gattuso in the central roles. Up front Shevchenko and Inzaghi.

Milan started well and Inter already looked panicked due to the fact that they "had" to win in order not to lose touch with Juventus. At this time Milan were just happy to move the ball and create scoring chances by going over the midfield sector with long balls to Sheva and Pippo. Milan had numerous chances to score through Shevchenko, Inzaghi, Rui Costa and a couple from Gattuso who again played his heart out. A Rui Costa header was cleared off the line in the first half. As the game went on inter got more nervous and the first to suffer was captain Maldini who was strechered off with a broken nose. Milan's goal came from a perfect Rui Costa assist who found Inzaghi whose first time effort beat Toldo. Later on Cordoba made a bad foul on Serginho who also had to taken off. Cordoba was shown the red card adn Milan had the comfort of being in the lead and a man up.

Milan controlled the game to the end creating more scoring chances with Dida never really given any sort of problems.

Milan lost all three points at Parma but definitely deserved better. Inzaghi scored a completely legitimate goal (linesman ruled offside) and hit the post from Seedorf in a balanced match. milan are now adrift in the Scudetto race.

Yellow cards: Camoranesi (J), Pirlo (M), Simic (M), Ambrosini (M)

Milan beat Juventus in a brilliant game of football at the San Siro. Milan went ahead twice, the first time after only 4 minutes through Shevchenko who played a great game today. Ancelotti left Rivaldo out of the squad and opted for a 4-4-2 lineup with Rui Costa and Pirlo as playmakers with Shevchenko and Inzaghi up front. The move paid off since both strikers scored two good goals.

The first came when Shevchenko cleared at least three players and Buffon. His left shot from close range trickled in between defenders into the net. Nedved equalised shortly afterwards from a free kick which found Dida unprepared after at least two deviations in front of him. The winner came from a perfect Pirlo assist to Inzaghi who controlled immaculately and sent the ball between Buffon's legs. Milan also had a clear penalty on Shevchenko and also Pessotto should have been sent off for a last man foul on Pirlo.

Red cards: Belardi (R)

Milan again failed to score goals, this time at the Granillo where the 0-0 result leaves Milan a long way from the top teams. Milan absolutely needed to win this match to keep in touch. Rivaldo was especially negative today failing to shoot a single shot at goal. Rui Costa came closest to scoring the winner with a powerful shot which sailed just over the bar. Reggina ended the match with ten men when Belardi handled the ball outside his area but Milan never materialised the numeric superiority.

Milan failed to obtain the three points again at home to a good Chievo and are now adrift in points from Juventus. Milan best chance came at the end when a Seedorf shot was saved onto the post by Lupatelli. From the rebound Rui Costa again saw Lupatelli save to corner for two incredible saves.

4/3/2003 Milan option La Luz

Milan have taken an option on the 17 year old Nacional Montevideo defender Ignacio La Luz. The player is being seen as the new Maldini and has already gained a first team place in his club showing incredible maturity for his young age. The player will most probably be loaned out to Atletico Madrid next season to mature. In the meantime Coloccini will return to Milan next season.
